Why the Hell Did They Cast Evan Peters? (I Am Livid)
Okay, I know I'm late with this post but I was so pumped when I saw Evan Peters show up on WandaVision, I thought this could mean that the FOX X-Men movies were cannon. (I have always thought X-Men was superior to the MCU, I wanted Quicksilver dammit...) I thought maybe they were opening up some sort of multi-verse thing. They went through all this trouble for years, hiding actors and keeping cameos under their hat for a boner joke. We finally found out in the big finale that Evan Peters was actually just an actor named Ralph Bohner... he was just being controlled by Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) the whole time. Okay, no seriously I am fine I just got a little worked up for a day or two... or three. Lets look at some fun facts around Evan Peters casting.
Elizabeth Olsen thought that his casting was a MCU-FOX crossover.
In an interview with Variety Olsen said "When we heard that Evan was going to do it, my mind was blown... This is the first time we’re merging! This is crazy." They didn't even let the star of the show in on whether or not Peters was going to be the X-men Quicksilver, she believed they were merging MCU and FOX. However, she continues to say that she didn't fully understand what they were doing with the multiverse since she was not yet cast in the new Dr. Strange movie in which they explain the multiverse better. She claims "I didn’t understand the larger plan of the multiverse until I started working on the ‘Doctor Strange’ sequel."

They wrote the part for Evan Peters before they knew if he would be on board.
Jac Schaeffer, head writer of Wandavision, told TheWrap that she believes no one else could have played the role of fake Pietro than Peters. She claims they didn't know until late in production if he would even agree to play the part. She explains "The idea of it was very early... I can’t remember when we finally — when it was confirmed that he was going to be on set... I think it was late. We were just fingers crossed for the longest time". She also confesses to TheWrap that she believes people got so involved into whether or not Peters was meant to be a crossover character that they did not understand it was supposed to represent Wanda's confusion in the whole situation. The writers did not have a "plan B" if Peters had decided not to take the role. All money was riding on him accepting their offer.
They were just messing with us.
Well, they were just messing with us, and I guess it was pretty funny. They did sprinkle in some X-Men Easter eggs to confuse us more, and even a "Kick-ass" mention as an ode to Peters being in another MCU universe film "Kick-ass". I just feel a little disappointed and was scouring the web between episodes to see if there was any way this could be the X-Men Quicksilver.
WandaVison was an awesome mini-series and I do recommend a watch, even though it was a lot funnier to watch live as people were going crazy with theories, including me. I like where Marvel is headed now that Disney owns them, I feel like its allowing more freedom for the writers somehow.
